For Visitors

For Visitors: What to Expect

When Are Worship Services?

We offer two worship services at 9:00 and 10:30AM.

All ages are welcome.

How Do the Worship Services Differ?

Although the Scripture reading is the same, the sermon in two services differ. This is so that members and visitors can use the recorded service to dive deeper into their faith during the week by watching our recorded services online.

The 9:00 service embraces our long standing liturgical tradition. It will include more time-honored hymns and songs, as well as a bit more structure to the order of worship. We have recognized that our parishioners find comfort in following the long standing traditions that we have experienced since childhood. The 10:30 service is our contemporary service and the order of worship is a little more free-flowing. This worship service is designed to offer spiritual growth for families and multiple generations. Those who like modern worship or would like to worship together as a family with children are encouraged to attend.

When You Arrive

Parking is available in lots south and west of the church building. On Sundays, parking also is available in the school lot just south of the church.

Although the south doors are considered the church’s main entrance, on Sundays you also may enter through the north or west doors.

Handicapped parking is available outside the main (south) entrance, and a covered car port is available for dropoff. The building is wheelchair accessible.

What if I am a Visitor?

We will greet you with smiles and handshakes (if you would like), but we won’t make you stand up or single you out. All those attending worship are invited to sign an attendance register inviting them to share contact information if they wish.

What Should I Wear?

We do not have a dress code. Worshipers at Milton UMC wear anything from jeans and T-shirts, to slacks and golf shirts, to suits and ties. Please wear whatever you feel is most comfortable for you in this setting.

What About Children?

People of all ages are always welcome in worship! If families prefer, they and their children can sit at round tables rather than pews, where coloring pages and crayons are available. An inside “picnic table” nearby is available nearby for the youngest children.

If you need to take your child out of the sanctuary during the service, you can watch and listen to the service on the video screen in the Fellowship Hall (directly across from the main entrance to the sanctuary).

What About the Offering?

The offering plate is placed in front of the entrance of sanctuary. This is an opportunity to actively respond to what God has given us by freely giving to support the church through the ministries of Milton UMC. Electronic giving is also available and encouraged. For more, click here

How Will I Follow Along During Worship?

A printed program (or bulletin) is handed out to all who attend. The order of worship also is projected on two large screens in the front of the sanctuary. You may follow in whatever way is most comfortable.

May I Participate in Communion?

In the United Methodist Church, we understand that it’s Jesus who invites us to the Communion table. All who love God, seek to follow Jesus and hope to live in peace with one another are welcome. You will be clearly led by our ushers. The elements always consist of bread and grape juice. We offer gluten-free and dietary-sensitive alternatives, as well. If you are unable to come forward for Communion, the pastor will be sure you may receive it where you are sitting.
